Felipe Montero holds a degree in industrial engineering from the Technical University of Madrid,
He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University of Berlin and a Master’s degree in Economics from UNED (Spain).
He also completed an MBA at ICADE Business School and the University of Strathclyde as part of Iberdrola’s postgraduate programme.
He started his career working for engineering companies in the construction industry and joined Iberdrola in 2010 as an engineer working on the Wikinger offshore wind farm,
Iberdrola’s first offshore wind project in Germany.
In 2017, he was appointed project manager of Baltic Eagle, Iberdrola’s offshore wind farm currently under development,
and successfully led the team from the auction process to the final investment decision.
In 2020, Montero joined Northland Power as Project Director and Country Manager for Taiwan, where he led the development of the 1 GW Hai Long offshore wind farm project in the Taiwan Strait.
Since January 2023, he has been CEO of Iberdrola Germany, (press release).
Since joining the company in 2023, he has been driving forward the integrated growth strategy in both the offshore and onshore sectors.
He is increasingly focussing on long-term partnerships and PPAs with German companies in order to support them in achieving their climate targets and jointly drive forward the energy transition in Germany.
Felipe Montero recently spoke about Iberdrola Deutschland’s current projects in an interview with Energie & Management.
