Daniel Brickwell is Chief Commercial Officer of Ocean Breeze Energy GmbH & Co. KG, responsible for purchasing, sales, legal and insurance.

Ocean Breeze Energy GmbH & Co. KG is the owner and operator of the wind farm, BARD Offshore 1 (BO1), around 100 kilometres off the German North Sea coast. BO1 is the first commercial offshore wind farm in Germany and has been fully connected to the power grid since September 2013. With 80 wind turbines in the 5 megawatt class, a nominal output of 400 megawatts is achieved – equivalent to the electricity requirements of more than 400,000 households.

Ocean Breeze Energy GmbH & Co. KG is wholly owned by funds managed by Macquarie Asset Management [MAM]. MAM is the world’s largest infrastructure operator and has been investing in major infrastructure companies across Germany since 2000, including Open Grid Europe, TanQuid, Thyssengas, Techem and the Warnow Tunnel. MAM is also a major investor in renewable energy, managing 13.4 GW of investments in green energy projects around the world.

Daniel Brickwell has been a senior executive in the wind energy sector for over 20 years. He has a deep understanding of both the commercial and technical aspects of the business and has extensive experience in financing, negotiating and executing large-scale projects in international teams. His motivation is to help projects succeed in difficult phases of innovation and to create something lasting and new.

He holds a PhD in Finance from the Institute of Banking and Finance at the Free University of Berlin.
