Peter Barth studied power engineering at the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice and at RWTH Aachen University.

Peter Barth has been working in the field of electricity transmission since 1994, formerly in the RWE Group.

Since September 2009, the transmission grid has been organized in the separate grid company Amprion GmbH in accordance with the requirements of the European Commission (3rd Energy Package).
and has since been largely sold to a group of investors.

In recent years, he has coordinated Amprion’s planning activities, including the preparation of the grid development plan for Germany.

His main areas of responsibility were grid strategy, market analyses, energy industry scenarios, long-term grid planning and political/regulatory issues with asset relevance.

He relinquished these tasks in the course of 2019 in order to concentrate on the organization and management of Amprion Offshore GmbH in the role of Managing Director.

Peter Barth is very active in the political and social dialogue on decarbonization and the transformation of the German and European energy supply system.
