Current Developments in Offshore Safety Training
March 9, 2016 10:11 amThe offshore wind industry is a young sector with special standards and codes permanently developing. The standards evolved in accordance to the standards used in the oil and gas industry. Meanwhile own standards have been developed for the personnel which according to the special requirements offshore. Depending on the location of the offshore wind farms the site of operation for the personnel varies as well as the required qualification. The safety training can be based on national (DGUV) and international standards (GWO). The different standards will be shown in comparison.
A clear trend to increasing qualification of offshore personnel can be encountered. The qualifications such as “Ersthelfer Offshore” according to DGUV, Refresher (e.g. Sea Survival), as well as technical trainings according to GWO (e.g. BMT) are strongly demanded. The arrangements of will be generally shown. Furthermore a multitude of electrical qualified personnel is required in the wind industry. These can on the one hand be recruited by the classical education or on the other hand existing personnel can be trained to an electrically qualified person, for example by a modular qualification. These kind of qualification will also be presented
