In 2016 Nils Hinzmann graduated as a Master of Science at the Technischen Universität Braunschweig and has worked as a research associate at the Institute for Geomechanics and Geotechnics (former Institute for Foundation Engineering and Soil Mechanics) since. Mr. Hinzmann made the first contact with the decommissioning of offshore pile foundation during the removal of the Amrumbank West met mast, where he carried out hydro noise measurement during the abrasive cutting process. The resulting ideas for a complete decommissioning of offshore pile foundation are being developed and extensively examined in the research project ‘DeCoMP – DeCommissioning of Monopiles’ by him in the geotechnical test facility at the TU Braunschweig since 2018.
