The Wind Energy Agency WAB alongside Offshore Wind Messe invited representatives of the offshore wind industry to the eleventh WINDFORCE conference. More than 400 national and international participants gathered from 9 to 11 June, 2015 in Bremerhaven.
On Tuesday 9 June, the conference was opened by the two main sponsors’ managing directors, Günter Albers for ELA Container Offshore and Markus Rieck for ALSTOM, together with Lower Saxony’s Minister for Economic Affairs, Olaf Lies, and the managing director of WAB, Ronny Meyer. Following the opening event, UWIND sponsored a get-together for further discussions which was well-attended.
WINDFORCE 2015 considered the most significant aspects of wind industry in a selection of 62 presentations by leading experts in twelve sessions. National developments were discussed, as well as the situation in the Netherlands, France and the UK.
The participants enjoyed the good weather during the breaks. Overlooking the water, they established new and maintained existing business contacts in a social but relaxed atmosphere. Journalists took advantage of those breaks for interviews.
This year’s highlight was the WINDFORCE Dinner on Wednesday evening on the site of Abeking & Rasmussen’s shipyard. 250 guests enjoyed the extraordinary ambience in one of the production halls.
On the last day, Friday 12 June, an all-day boat excursion was organised to see the two German offshore wind farms Meerwind Süd/Ost and Nordsee Ost. The representatives, Knud Schulze and Marcel Sunier, presented the activities they are engaged in at each project.
