Sandbank: Lessons learned in practice
March 5, 2015 12:56 pm“Currently Vattenfall has two adjacent national offshore wind farms in different steps: DanTysk in operation and Sandbank still in the planning/early construction Learn from this session how Vattenfall benefits from the synergies of these two wind farms as well as others like the British Kentish Flats extension currently under construction.
Niels Bjaert, Project Director of Sandbank, will look into improvements and lessons learned from other offshore projects and reflect on this in different dimensions – from a technical and a contractual side. As an example, ‘from DanTysk to Sandbank’ means ‘From Grouting to flanges’: which differences does this change exactly make? How will it influence the project during construction? Furthermore he will look into contractual changes being made with the 2nd generation of wind farms. Which risks and which chances does it bring to the project? What are the critical interfaces? How to tackle Grid connection issues? What can we learn from different projects in different countries? At the end of the day all these topics are key ingredients for cost reductions between planning, constructing and operating a wind farm.
DanTysk and Sandbank are JointVenture wind farms realized by Vattenfall and partly owned by Stadtwerke München (49%). Both farms a part of Vattenfall’s danish-german Cluster strategy in order to ensure a most efficient operation phase. With the commissioning of DanTysk Vattenfall ha 1 Gigawatt offshore wind in Europe in operation.”
