Dr. Kai Trümpler

Head of Division ”Spatial Planning”, German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency BSH

Dr. Truempler is Head of the Spatial Planning Division in Germany’s Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH). The Division is responsible for the Site Development Plan for offshore wind energy and the preparation of the maritime spatial plan for the German EEZ. Dr. Truempler has been working for the BSH since 2007 in different capacities. He is an international lawyer by training and contributed to several works on the law of the sea.

The BSH is the central maritime authority for Germany. Its responsibilities include hydrographic services for all German waters, administration of German flagged vessels, monitoring of physical and chemical parameters of the sea, maritime spatial planning, and licensing of all offshore installations that are not used for resource extraction in the EEZ.
