Mareike Leimeister

Research Associate, Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy Systems IWES

Mareike Leimeister is an Offshore Wind Engineer with special interest in floating systems. She studied Renewable Energies (B.Sc.) at Stuttgart University and holds M.Sc. (Hons) in both Offshore Engineering and Technology – Wind Energy. She wrote her Master’s thesis about rational upscaling and modelling of a semi-submersible floating offshore wind turbine. Since 2017, she coordinates and works – as research associate at Fraunhofer IWES in the group global system dynamics – on joint research projects, such as AFLOWT on a floating demonstrator. She is currently in the final stage of her EngD studies on reliability-based optimisation of floating wind turbine support structures.
