Prof Dr Jörg Buddenberg


Jörg Buddenberg, born in 1959, studied mining at the Technical University of Clausthal, where he received his doctorate in 1991 under Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. W. Knissel. After his doctorate, he worked in international oil and gas production at DEMINEX GmbH and later at Veba Oil & Gas GmbH. His activities focused on the evaluation of oil and gas projects, corporate strategy and corporate planning as well as the management of foreign subsidiaries.

From 2001 to 2003, he was Managing Director of Niedersächsische Energie Agentur GmbH, where he dealt with issues relating to renewable energies and energy efficiency.

Since 2004, Jörg Buddenberg has held various positions at the EWE Group, Oldenburg. Among other things, he was Managing Director of EWE ERNEUERBARE ENERGIEN GmbH until 2020 and in this function was instrumental in bundling renewable energy business onshore in Alterric GmbH, which EWE founded together with the Alois Wobben Foundation in 2021. Since 2021, he has managed the EWE Group’s offshore wind activities as well as the Group’s climate-neutral EWE project.

In addition to his professional activities, Jörg Buddenberg is a lecturer and honorary professor at Clausthal University of Technology and a member of the district council in the Oldenburg district for the Bündnis 90/Die Grünen parliamentary group. Jörg Buddenberg was a member of the board of the Foundation of German Industry for the Utilization and Research of Wind Energy at Sea until 2020 and, together with other entrepreneurs in the industry, founded the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Offshore-Wind e.V. (now Bundesverband der Windparkbetreiber Offshore e.V.) in 2014 and led it as its first board chairman after its foundation.

Jörg Buddenberg is married and has three children.
